Adult Support Services

Supportive services provide opportunities for individuals with severe mental illness to improve their knowledge, skills, and interactions with others. Services include:

    Psychoeducational Groups - Groups cover a variety of topics, customized to best meet the needs of the clients participating in the group.

    Respite Care - This short-term residential program is for adults suffering from a wide range of mental disabilities and who are experiencing significant situational crisis. Staff works with clients and their case managers to help resolve the situations.

    Halfway House - This program works with clients to develop the various skills needed to live independently in the community. The goal is to help each client master those activities of daily living that would enhance their ability to successfully live in the community. Services include:

    • Teaching fundamental nutrition and cooking skills
    • Money management
    • Skills associated with renting an apartment/seeking employment
    • Developing a plan for social and recreational activity

    Day Programs - These client-driven day programs are specifically designed to help individuals with mental illnesses participate in their neighborhoods. Services include:
    • Assistance to clients managing their own finances
    • Group therapy
    • Independent living skills instruction and monitoring
    • Social/Recreational services
    • Social Support

    Representative Payee Services - Assistance is provided to clients to manage daily finances (paying bills, budgeting, etc.). The goal is to help clients live independently and successfully in the community.

Centerpoint Health staff members also facilitate support groups for individuals and families in the area. The services are provided at no cost to the participants and were created by requests of people in the community. These groups offer a supportive environment where you can talk with others who understand your problems and can help.
