Spotlight: John “This was the best day ever!”

John

John was referred to Camp Possible by his pediatrician. His first thought was “this is the worst day ever, I wish I didn’t come.”

He didn’t want to interact with other kids and later that day the camp went to Sawyer Point. Some of the kids asked him to play but he refused. After seeing the other kids playing in the water park John wished he would have played with the other kids when they asked him. His counselor asked him what was wrong and he told the story. She suggested being patient and maybe the kids would ask again. Within minutes the other kids asked him to play again and he started to play with them.

By the end of the day John said “it was the best day ever!” This set the tone for the rest of his time at the camp, he learned to be open to new things and be engaged in the rest of the camp.
