CINCINNATI—Step Up to the Plate raised more than $27,000 for Centerpoint Health, a nonprofit behavioral healthcare agency, on May 21 at Great American Ball Park. The event was sponsored by National City Bank and Humana.

“It was gratifying to see the tremendous support for Centerpoint Health,” said Dr. Alan Mabry, Centerpoint Health executive director. “Mental healthcare is important for the vitality of our community, and the services we provide wouldn’t be possible without the support of many.”

The event featured a tour of the Cincinnati Reds Museum & Hall of Fame, dinner and a silent auction. A Reds’ pitching coach was on hand to pitch to the guests during the event’s batting practice on the field.

Centerpoint Health gives special thanks to the following: event-co-chairs Karen & Peter Eller, WKRC-TV’s Liz Bonis and WDBZ-AM’s Lincoln Ware.

Proceeds will benefit Centerpoint's mental health programs for children and adults in Hamilton County. Step Up to the Plate is the first fundraiser for the agency, which was formed in January from the consolidation of three local mental health agencies.

Centerpoint Health provides outpatient treatment, counseling, case management, support services and crisis and prevention services to Hamilton County residents and anticipates serving 15,000 clients during its first year.
